Product Description
This is a front wishbone for converting a Tamiya TL01 or TL01-LA to use modern, easily sourced Tamiya touring car suspension parts. The Long Arm style has similar geometry to the Tamiya 51353 Reversible Arms, massively improve the suspension geometry of the car.
In this case, the front arm is compatible with the TRF416/TA05V2 onwards line of front C-Hubs and knuckles including:
54580 - 4 Deg Caster Reinforced C-Hubs
54546 - 6 Deg Caster Reinforced C-Hubs
51293 - 0 deg Plastic C-Hubs
51352 - TB03 Plastic Knuckles
54568 - TRF418 Reinforced Knuckles
And any parts compatible with the suspension on the TA06 / TA07 / TB03 / TB04 / TB05 / TRF416 / TRF417 / TRF418 / TRF419. Note the latest TRF420 won't fit because they use a 3mm pin.
I would suggest using a combination of the 54580 reinforced 4 deg C-hubs to improve the steering, and 51352 plastic knuckles to maintain durability.
Parts also required:
2.6mm hinge pins - either 53825 regular or 53917 ti coated hinge pins (these are full sets for front and rear)
M3 x 3mm grub screw, x 4. These are for retaining the hinge pins in the uprights and c-hubs.
42mm driveshafts - 51216 dogbones or any 44mm swingshaft universals.
9808192 wheel axles if using 42mm driveshafts
54075 - TB03 Kingpin Set
53640, aluminum ball nut set (This set contains 10 ball nuts, so you only need one set per car)
M3 x 10mm screw x 2, for attaching the ball nuts to the shock tower on the tub.
3x32mm turnbuckles x 2, to make camber links from
53601, 5mm low friction adjusters, for using with the turnbuckles to make the camber links (This set contains 8 adjusters, so you only need one set per car)
4 x 1050 bearings for the knuckles.
If you follow the assembly instructions for suspension from the TL01-LA manual (https://www.tamiya.com/english/rc/rcmanual/tl01la.pdf) as a guide you will get the idea. For details on how the modern parts assemble, read the manual from any of the TA or TRF series cars mentioned above.
You will need 2 arms to complete the front end of the car. They are designed to used in conjunction with the rear arms http://shpws.me/RCHC
Before fitting, run a 3mm drill or reamer through the inboard hinge pin hole, and a 2.6mm drill or reamer through the outer hinge pin hole. It is recommended to tap the mounting holes for the shocks if using ball screws, but if using step screws, let them self tap.
We recommend using the PA12 material for durability. A light runner (not racing) might be able to use regular versatile plastic OK.
