Product Description
This is an HO scale (1:87 or 3.5mm:1ft) model of a British Railways diagram 1/102, 16t mineral wagon of welded body construction with pressed steel end and side doors, and bottom doors.
The separate 9' wheelbase chassis should just fit between the headstocks under the body after painting and held with a minimum of glue. There is a sprue of four brake block and pushrod assemblies for you to choose the brake arrangment you prefer. Morton is suggested (one each side, and neither reversed). Two spares.
The pinpoint cones are designed to accept 24.5mm axles. Some HO axles out there are 25.5mm; that's too big but you might just get away with it.
This is offered for sale directly so those interested, and the person who requested it, can see the price. There's no markup for me in the price shown, so I cannot reduce it. If you decide to buy, please be aware that I have not bought one myself and cannot guarantee that there are no mistakes.
UPDATE 2021-10-31 (BRdiag1_102_HO_04) Based on experience with similar models I have removed the bracing webs the first version had inside the body. I don't think they're needed, and they're an effort to remove. I also made putting wheels in a bit easier by making notches inside the bottom of the axleguards.
UPDATE 2022-01-22 (BRdiag1_102_HO_12) Various very minor improvements to the positions of things below solebar level. Joined the sprue of brake blocks and rods to the chassis, so that there is one less separate part to handle. Added a drawbar hook.
UPDATE 2023-06-12 (BRdiag1_102_HO_12_thicker_for_PA12)
Thickened the brake V-hangers and the brake rodding units on the sprue inside the chassis to improve printability in grey PA12. Also took the opportunity to remove the incorrect tie-bars between the axleguards.
