Helm 1/20th Elco 80'

These parts fit Elco 80' PT boats. Exterior surfaces are to Elco drawings except for a small fillet at the back of the wheel around the shaft for strength, and the rudder angle indicator is molded into the steering box. Preparation
The first step is to clean all parts thoroughly. Handle very carefully as the plastic is brittle. Please see the guide and links here: http://www.pt103.com/3D_Printed_PT_Boat_Parts.html. For best painting results be sure to follow cleaning with a UV cure from a lamp with the correct output, or the sun.

Assembly
Fit wheel shaft to steering box. Fit chain guard to steering box.
Drill a locating hole on the boat for the stepped locating pin found on the back of the box. Trim bottom of chain guard if needed to match deck.
The pin step is also used as a depth guide for mounting the wheel. For PT 103-138 insert the wheel shaft all the way to the end of the step. PT 139 and on had a 1" longer shaft so align the shaft end with the base of the step.
To align the wheel clocking, line up the notch in the end of the wheel shaft with the flat of the step. The edge of a knife will help align them straight.
