Product Description
The IJN Akashi was the first ond only specifically designed repair ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was launched in 1938 and enters service in 1939. Their modern tools and machines (imported from Germany) are able to repair nearly every damage. During the war the Akashi stayed at the Truk Atoll and repaired many ships including the carrier Shokaku and the famous battleship Yamato. In spring 1944 she was heaviely damaged by airplanes but managed to escape to the Palau Islands. There she was bombed again and sunk in March 1944. The Wreck was scrapped after the war. Two sisterships are cancelled in 1943.
