Product Description
First designed in 1946, the 45mm/78 gun was used in a number of experimental mountings throughout the late 1940s. The SM-20 quad mount used the 45mm/78 SM-7 gun with a magazine of 16 rounds per gun; the quad mount entered service in 1957. It equipped Pr. 41 Neustrashimy and Pr.56 and 56K Kotlin class destroyers, although it was scheduled to be used on Pr. 56EM class destroyers, the Pr. 24 Sovetsky Soyuz class battleships and the Pr.82 Stalingrad class battlecruisers, although none of the aforementioned classes were never completed.
