Product Description
I have conceived this piece as a metaphor of the mechanism through which our brain understands trompe l'oeil. Inspired by Cornelius Norbertus Gijsbrechts's work : Trompe l'Oeil with Trumpet, Celestial Globe and Proclamation by Frederik III, I wanted to create a piece with dual symbolism: It is the simple shape of a conch shell but it is also a distorted perspective of the object in the same way our brain distorts images to perceive trompe-l'oeils.
