Product Description
The Yorktown class carriers were a highly successful compromise between the speed and endurance of large, antimatter-powered starships, and the maneuverability and numbers of smaller, high-impulse-speed craft. Each ship carried only minimal defensive weaponry - a single laser turret and two missile launchers - but they were never intended to come into direct combat with an enemy. That would be handled by the five Minotaur fighters carried by each.

One of the last of the major warships derived from the ubiquitous Bison freighters, the Yorktowns were impressively large even by modern standards. With a crew of over a thousand expected to be able to cruise for six months or more, they were well-equipped with fuel, food, and other supplies, especially recreational facilities. The latter even includes a spacious natural park deck, to give crewfolk the illusion of planetside space.

Early design proposals enlarged the fighter bay to allow the Yorktown to carry Archer system-patrol ships, but with the development of the smaller, faster, and more capable Minotaur fighter these options were shelved.

Based on original art by Masao Okazaki. Used with permission. This model is offered in different scales for your gaming pleasure - the item you are viewing is in 1/3125 scale for use with larger gaming figures.
