Keep your freight cars from rolling off the end of the spur with this set of four beefy bumping posts. Based on a Reading Company plan but common on other railroads as well. Per the prototype plans, the post is slightly off-center for best coupler contact. (In my photos, I hadn't yet added the crosstie or extended the base downward, so you won't need to shim it with cardboard like I did.) To paint, wash it well with Simple Green or plain old dish soap and water and let it dry thoroughly. I primed mine with some regular spray can primer, then airbrushed it with Polly Scale Roof Brown. I brush-painted the rear post with Aged Concrete, colored the bolts with a fine-tip brown Sharpie, and brush-painted the buffer casting with Grimy Black. The rails got a coating of Bragdon's Old Rust weathering powder, and a little was applied to the concrete part. I lightened the brown of the forward post with some Bragdon's Grimy Gray, and I painted the striker plate with Polly Scale ATSF Red. To install, just glue the rails to the ends of your existing rails, and you're ready to roll. Or in this case, not roll.
