Product Description
This is an HO Scale model of the articulated 5000 series, later 51-54 series, cars built for the CRT/CTA in 1947 by the St. Louis Car Company and Pullman Car Company. These cars were assigned to various portions of the rapid transit system until they found their permanent home on the Skokie Swift in 1964. These cars aquired the nicknames Jitterbug or Doodlebug due to its articulated design.
This version of the car is how they appeared prior to rebuilding for the Skokie Swift in from 1947 to 1964. It features the narrower roof boards on the both A cars to accomodate the trolley pole used in Evanston service.
Also available in my shop are the trucks for the whole car as well as the underbody and frame.
