Product Description
The latch on my Volvo S40 would not lock. The solution appeared to be replcaing the entire assembly that was over $100! I decided to open the assembly and found a nylon worm gear that was broken.
So I 3D Modeled the part and replaced the gear in the assembly. Now my trunk works perfectly!!!
I was able to find a replacement gear but they were all from international sellers and are made of the same marterial so this would likely happen again.
I am offering the part here on shapeways and have designed it to be solid and with the material options here it's a much better fix than the alternatives.
