Product Description
I set out to make a better bit holder for my Ridgid drills and drivers! In my day-to-day use as a handyman, Ridgid's OEM single bit holder sticks out too far and would always get caught on things. Bits would get knocked out and lost in the grass or tools would get dislodged from my belt and dropped.

Features of the 'Trippel' three-slot holder:
  • has a significantly lower profile compared to the OEM holder
  • fits 3 bits instead of 1
  • holds the bits more securely
  • extension bits will hold securely in any slot where they clear the battery - the Trippel holder has an extension bit retainer clip at the top for added holding power
  • bits snap securely into place and you just pull the front of the bit outward to pop it out - it's made to be a bit tight at first so it settles in to a nice grip level after a few cycles of wear-in
  • shorty bits can be held by just using the front half of each slot (hard to get out if you bury it all the way in there, but there's a rear access notch so you can use a screw or other small pointy tool to push it out if needed;)

Tool compatibility note: Dubbel is the best fit match for older models of Ridgid drills & drivers (they have a lower-profile base with built-in bit holder on the back). The Trippel fits the older models but sticks out a little bit at the top... it's usable, but since my hand takes up the whole grip, it just about touches the top of the Trippel holder.

I've made multiple design improvements to these holders, and tested prototypes on four tools for over a year printed in PLA with my cheap FDM printer (the black ones in the photos). They've held up well, with only two breaks - one with the old Trippel extension hoop design that was revised to a more efficient orientation and stronger/less exposed retainer tab design; and another when a tool dropped on concrete with no battery in it (the holder sticks out on the bottom with no battery in place). Shapeways material options here will have a smoother finish surface and will be stronger than my PLA prototypes. I included the Gray PA12 Glass Beads as a stronger upgrade option if it's worth the added cost to you.
