Product Description
These supports fit all Rokuhan Z scale track with the trackbed. They can be used to super-elevate a curve in a helix. These parts are installed at the connectors. The shape and the friction fit captures both track ends at a connection at any grade between -5 percent and +5 percent.
Before using this part in a helix, you must use a 4-40 tap and drill set to clean up and then tap the holes.
A helix is constructed with 8 towers (when using 45 degree curves) or 12 towers (when using 30 degree curves). Each tower is built with two 4-40 threaded rods and two or more track supports. The height of each suppport is set by turning the 4-40 rods. Each turn of the 4-40 threaded rod, changes the elevation by 0.025".
There are many possible helices, but 2 make the most sense.
Helix 1 uses 45 degree curves and, has 32.7mm of clearance, sufficient for US Modern operations. The difference between adjacent supports is 8 turns, or 0.2". The resulting elevation of a complete circle is 1.6".
Helix 2 uses 30 degree curves and, has 30.4mm of clearance, sufficient for US Classic operations. The difference between adjacent supports is 5 turns, or 0.125". The resulting elevation of a complete circle is 1.5".
