This has not been tested. If you install it, please let me know how it works. The garage door this is for lacks many of the safety features of newer garage door openers and is so old that other stronger parts are likely to fail with more deliterious effects. You should just get a new garage door opener.
The soft plastic was tested and found to wear out in a week or so. I have no idea what the strength of the "metalic plastic" is, but it and the etail model are probably not durable enough. Obviously, the metals are way too expensive for being a solid piece. :(
