Product Description
This is a model of the diesel brake tender.
These were used in front of diesel locomotives to increase their breaking power and thus pull longer trains. They were made from chopped up coaches and filled with metal or concrete if I recall correctly to give them a good heavy weight. They ran in BR blue and in BR green. One has just been made from a prototypical coach on a preserved railway at the moment. So soon we will see a return of the diesel brake tender happily. I can change it to other gauges than N if you require. Next I'll be making versions that come in bits for those who prefer not paint a fully assembled model. It runs on LNER bogies and you can swap it's wheels for metal Bachmann coach wheels if you wish. As they're designed to fit. Also you can drill the hand rail holes out to the size needed to fit wire hand rails. There are holes as markers but they need enlarging with a fine drill. Anything around 0.2mm to 0.3mm is about right. The extreme detail version is slightly smoother and finner detailed. Paint with acrylic paints after cleaning with washing up liquid/water. Enamel paints dont work well with this material. Test on the inner body first. Enamel over an acrylic undercoat sometimes works. Please ask me if you have any questions, problems or suggestions.
Thank you.
Rob
(It seems that the bogies don't pivot properly at the moment. I'll try re design them soon. If you have one that's fused, it my be worth retrofitting some bachmann boggies. Or just drilling the centre central pivot out and making your own.)
