Product Description
Geometry: Poison Ivy Octahedron is a puzzle based on the idea of extending the theme from Eitan Cher's Ivy Cube. However, on the six-sided faces of the truncated octahedron, there are three "leaves" per face. Thus the "poison ivy" name. The larger "leaves" on the small square faces can never exchange places, so I've colored those faces black. The puzzle is a jumbling only geometry, with two different types of moves available at each of the twelve axes.
Other Items Needed: Dye: If you want the puzzle to be black, you can dye the pieces yourself with a nylon dye such as RIT or Dylon, or you can have Shapeways dye it for you at additional cost. Stickers: Template available in the tips & how-tos forum. If you want professionally cut stickers, I recommend Oliver’s Stickers or Chewie's Custom Stickers. Screws: Twelve 12mm M3 pan head screws required, available in hardware stores or on the web. Springs: Twelve springs needed, available in web puzzle shops. I get mine from HK Now Store.
Degree of Difficulty: Assembly: Easy to assemble. Solving: Moderately difficult to solve.
Playability: Poison Ivy Octahedron turns well, although the small parts can catch a bit at times.
The mechanism is stable.
