Product Description
These will fit the 42" driver centers. Driver centers may need to be turned down slighly in order to press on the tires.
General procedure is as follows:
1) Cut driver center on sprue. Mount on a piece of 1/8" steel shaft, and place assembly in drill press chuck.
2) With driver center spinning, gently press a sanding block with 120 grit sandpaper along rim to turn down surface, slightly tapering the rim so that the front of the driver is smaller diameter. Periodically check to see if it will fit on one of the driver tires.
3) Cut a tire from the brass sprue using flush cutting pliers. File any burr away, and file/sand the back and front of the tire flat.
4) Press the tire on the driver center.
5) With the driver mounted on the steel shaft, again place in the drill press and turn down the tire with small files and fine sandpaper, using gentle pressure until surface is smooth.
6) Optional - nickel plate the tire (it's not that hard or expensive)
7) Mount wheels on 1/8" axle shaft, gauge and quarter.
NOTE - the photo shows a slightly larger tire that I made to fit on some centers that I accidentally made a little to big. But the process is the same.
