This piggy bank is based on the idea of hourglass, which implicates that money could be accumulated or lost following by time. While the hourglass means loss of time, money is accumulating. From the concept of banknotes and coins, representing the value of notes and coins is equivalent, and will accumulate more and more as time goes by.
