I interpreted this painting as a sweet homage to the artist’s wife and her unborn child, and a vision of hope and possible dangers that lay ahead. I reinterpreted this as a modern statement of classic beauty, based on the classic motif of a love knot that is reminiscent of the details on the front of the subject’s dress.
These earrings have two interlocking parts – the lower curved part swings freely from the upper knot shape.
