009 Sentinel - Part 7 (Roof)

009 Freelance Sentinel Kit Designed to fit the KATO 11-103 Chassis.

This is the fourth print for a simple eight part kit which has been split into four files to enable components to be printed in different materials including self coloured strong flexible plastic so that painting is not strictly necessary. Although a had painted model using unpainted parts would look much better and be more economic.

For those wanting a smmoth finish to the top of the roof, I would recommend spraying the top surface with an acrylic primer (as sold for use on cars) and lightly sanding back using a very fine wet emery. This should be repeated ated until the  required finish is required.

The fact that these primers are intended to hide minor blemishes and the even surface of the roof lends itself to obtaining a very smooth finish while retaing the durability needed for the fixing clips.

Part 7 (Roof).

To complete the body you will need to purchase the remaining three prints from Shapeways:

Parts 1, 5, 6 & 8;
Parts 2 & 3 (Cab Details);
Part 4 (Main Body), the original Part 4 has two windows on each side either side of the door. However, alternatives are available with detail differences (see Part 4A, Part 4B etc.

You will also need to purchase a KATO 11-103 Chassis from another supplier.

The Cab Roof simply clips onto the top of the body (before fitting the chimey) with the chimney apature located furthest away from the bunker.

Once the roof is fitted the chimney can be threaded through the chimney apature and pushed into the hole in the top of the boiler.
