Product Description
A twin-engine variant of the popular but underpowered Bell 606, the Bell 612 offers increased payload and markedly superior high-altitude performance.
The 612SP ('Special Purpose') is a derivative developed by Bell for the Shoshone Department of State's Special Protection Unit (SPU) as an advanced-technology fire support aircraft for protection of critical installations and personnel. The 612SP incorporates a high-performance alternator in its drivetrain, coupled to a bulky capacitor bank located in the main cabin close to the fanjet's center of lift. This capacitor bank feeds a rail rifle, a high-perfomance anti-materiel weapon. Additionally, six LAGM missiles have been fitted in a tube launcher under the aircraft's left wing, while a 6.5mm minigun provides flexible firepower.
