I designed this pendant to accompany the painting by L.A. Ring, At the Freanch Windows. The Artist's Wife. In this painting we see that the artist has chosen to frame the likeness of his adored wife in a door way looking out into a garden of flowering blooms. The beautiful and abundant flowers further symbolize this time in the artist's life, a time of love for his new wife and the creation of life that has resulted.
I choose to design a pendant that framed the beautful flowers that are so abundant in Ring's painting. I did not want to do a literal reproduction of the subject, a man's love for his wife and unborn child. Instead I choose to frame a small bounty of flowers that are also rising in bloom and giving life. I did this in an Art Nouveau style which would have been at it's height of style during the time that Ring painted this composition. My design is done in a way to imitate the popular Repoussé manner of jewelry style that was so popular during this era.
