Product Description
This is a turret rotation kit for the old Tamiya M4 (1974 version). I made this to fit my own 1974 Tamiya M4's to get them closer to full-option like the modern ones. To complete the kit, you'll need the hardware listed below (HARDWARE NOT INCLUDED).
-(1)micro gear motor w/3mm shaft such as this one (with this 30 RPM motor it takes approx 22 sec for 1 full turret rotation)
-(4) M2x4mm screws (I use phillips head screws, these mount the turret base to upper hull)
-(4) M3x10mm screws (2 are used to affix motor mount to turret base, 2 are used for small rollers w/bearings)
-(4) M3x8mm screws (these are used to attach roller brackets to turret base)
-(2) 3x10x4 miniature bearings 3mm ID, 10mm OD, 4mm width (1 bearing in each small roller)
-(1) m3x4mm grub screw (used to hold motor in place, a spare M3 screw may also be used)
A 1/16 in. drill bit is used to drill the holes to mount the turret base plate to your Tamiya upper hull.
The turret ring is designed to be a fairly tight 'snap-fit' into the turret inself. A dab of Shoe Goo could be used to further secure it but so far I've not found it necessary.
