Two Fw 190 A-1 aircraft.
The earliest production variant of the Fw 190, the A-1 was in production from June 1941 and started flying operationally over France in August that year. It quickly proved superior in all but turn radius to the Royal Air Force's main front-line fighter, the Spitfire Mk V.
Armament included four 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns (two in the fuselage and two in the wing roots) and two wing-mounted 20 mm MG FF/M cannons
