Product Description
Vintage style "wave lamp" in HO scale, ready for installing nano LEDs, set of 40. Lamp shade diameter 5.25 mm (scale 18 inches), lamp housing diameter 1.75 mm (scale 6 inches), lamp height from bottom of shade to stem 6.84 mm (scale 23.5 inches).
Assembly:
The lamps are sprued in a protective frame so they do not get misplaced or damaged in the manufacturing process. Use a sprue cutter to snip each lamp off the frame, leaving as much of the 4 mm stem as is needed for your specific requirements. Each lamp stem has a 0.4mm hole through it that may require some cleaning by hand with piano wire or a 0.4mm drill bit, to remove any left over plastic powder. The hole is wide enough to pass a pair of enameled wires ("magnet wire") of 32 to 48 gauge, to connect to the nano LED.
To make a realistic looking bulb out of a nano LED, use warm white or amber LEDs of 0402 or 0603 size, and dip each LED in clear or preferably translucent glue, such as gorilla glue, after soldering the magnet wires to it. The glue should leave a somewhat globular drop around the LED, thus making it look like a classic light bulb once it dries. Pass the magnet wires through the stem of the lamp, such as to partially insert the LED into the lampshade. At the ether end, hook the wires to your power source in series with an appropriate resistor.
The model arrives unpainted, in translucent Frosted Ultra Detail plastic. For realism, it needs to be painted and a nano LED added, before installation into your model railroad layout or diorama.
The rendered image illustrates how to fit a prewired nano LED (with the suggested glob of translucent glue on it) into the lamp-shade.
