These are the Golden Relays located on the right side of the internal bulkhead of your 1:8 scale DeLorean model.
The set consists of two relays and two wire terminals and replaces part 57D. It was specifically designed for the 1:8 Eaglemoss Back to the Future DeLorean.
Painting and assembly:
The relays and wire terminals were designed to be used in combination with 0.28mm diameter wires. Adding the wires is fiddly work, if you think it's above your modelling skills just paint the relays and attach them to the inner bulkhead. Even without wires they will be the most accurate relays that you will find in 1:8 scale.
- Wash the parts with mild soap and cold water (don't use warm water)
- Remove sprue, pay attention to the picture, only the part marked with green needs to be removed.
- Prime with Tamiya grey primer.
- Paint the wires terminals that go on the bottom of the relays with black (I used Tamiya TS-6 Matt black spray)
- Paint the relays with gold (I used Vallejo old gold 70878)
- Use the smallest brush you have from now on. I'd recommend a 5/0 brush. Paint the metallic part of the wire terminals with metallic paint (I used Vallejo steel 71065)
- Paint the wire connectors on the relays with metallic paint
- Paint the heatshrink part on the relays with black (I used Vallejo black 70950)
- Paint the frames of the 3 Potter and Brumfield relays with a metallic color (I used Vallejo steel 71065)
- Cut the clear parts using the provided template available in the files section and glue to the front and bottom of the 3 Potter and Brumfield relays with clear parts glue or UV glue
- Attach the 0.28mm wires to both the relays and the wires terminals by using wood glue or UV glue
- Wrap a piece of fabric tape around the wires of the wire terminals in order to recreate the fabric hose
- Insert the hose with the wires from the terminal through the rectangular bottom hole of the golden relays, be very careful as parts are fragile. You can put a small drop of superglue on the back of the ends of the wires terminals but they will stay in place anyway so not absolutely necessary.
- Add a scale cable tie on the top to bundle all wires together. Be careful not to pull the wires out while doing this.
- Wrap the wires again in fabric tape in order to recreate the hose.
- Attach the relays on the internal bulkhead by using a drop of superglue on each pin.
