Product Description
Freelance George England 0-4-0T+T Locomotive.

This model is a freelance design taking inspiration from various features of the locomotives built for the Festiniog Railway by George England. Ideal if you like the look of the England locos, but are not modelling the Festiniog Railway.

This model features sandpots, chimney and smoke box door as built by George England.

Designed to suit Bachmann N gauge Percy chassis.

Requires:
Bachmann N gauge Percy chassis
Ø0.31 brass wire

Alan Gibson 4mm Short handrail knobs G4M53 or equivilant.
Ø6.2, 9mm gauge wheels for the tender. Graham Farish and Dundas Models wheels fit this model.

Assembly advice:

Preparing the chassis:

Remove body from the Bachmann Percy by undoing the four screws under the cab and cylinders.
Undo the 3 screws to remove the chassis keeper plate. Take out the existing N gauge couplings.
Cut the sprue between the firebox and front buffer part and trim or file back to the flat surfaces.
Fit the firebox into the rear coupling pocket and the front buffer into the front coupling pocket, checking they are the correct way up. Reattach the keeper plate with the 3 screws.

Adding brass wire:

Add Ø0.31 brass wire through the handrail knobs. No drilling is needed for the knobs and is not recommended as it could break them. Take your time with this step. I threaded a full length of wire through the knobs, marked the end gently with a knife, then removed the wire before trimming to length and re-installing.
Bass wire is also used for:
Handrail knobs are required for the front of the smokebox and sides of the tank.

A brass whistle can fitted if desired by drilling out the hole marked inside the saddle tank. A plastic one is not included as George England fitted one inside the cab which was quickly moved to the top of the saddle tank while at the FR.

Fitting the body:

Attach the body with the two rear screws. Due to the way the Percy is designed, the front screws cannot be used as printed material isn't strong enough to replicate the spigot. You could cut the spigots off the print and use longer screws if you wish.
