Product Description
GWR Tadpole, Diagram S1 & Old Standard Gauge Royal Saloon- Underframe (Part 1)
History.
The underframe was originally used on the old GWR Royal saloon converted to Standard Gauge in 1889 and withdrawn in 1903. After which it was used on the diagram S1 Tadpole, an eight wheeled 5 plank open bogie fish wagon.
I am currently working on another version of the chassis for use under the Royal Saloon.
As a Tadpole the running number was originally 42809 on the goods stock register but later changed to 2008 when transferred to the carriage list.
Initially this wagon would have been in the standard goods wagon grey but would have been repainted the brown vehicle livery when transferred to the coach list
The fish would have been packed in ice, in either barrels or crates and due to the perishable nature of the cargo the wagons were built to run in passenger trains at express speeds.
The Model.
This print is contains the underframe only (Part 1) which is designed to be a push fit onto the body.
