Product Description
Somewhat incredibly, the first electric locomotive to haul a train (albeit a single carriage) was built by Robert Davidson in Scotland in 1842.  Expensive to run through its one-use-only zinc batteries and ultimately destroyed in preference of steam, ‘Galvani’ nonetheless ran at just under 4mph and demonstrated that electric motors could pull a train.

This N Gauge model of the truck-like ‘Galvani’, complete with renditions of his pioneering electric motors, therefore offers something rather different – Era I electric traction.  It enables an unpowered free-rolling model engine which, coupled to a motorised coach (separately available), can create a strangely-prototypical working Era I train, giving the novelty of running the ‘great-grandfather’ of all modern rolling stock.  Included is a diver figure, to be perched on the roof of the coach…!
