Product Description
There were two protoype designs for the 24.5 t British Railways coal hopper, one built at Shildon works (B333000), the other (B333001) at Ashford works. They had different hopper bodies and Ashford's 3-bay hopper design was built in number. The one built at Shildon was therefore unique, and was for a time assigned Diagram 1/147 but later joined the Ashford and production lots in diagram 1/148. It may have been rebuilt at some point too, but there is at least one photograph of it in use and the different hopper shape is obvious. Because the end stanchions are wider apart and the hopper shorter, this model has the same coupler I designed originally for the 21t mineral wagon model, and 9'9"wb chassis kit. So the coupler and chassis for this kit are not the same as the ones with my other 24.5t hoppers. 3D printed wheels included for fun. Peco (old style plastic) or Peco-Parkside-Dundas metal rimmed wheels should also fit and will offer better running.
