Product Description
An inspector Engine for the LBSCR produced by the engine makers Sharp & Stuart. This would have been the final form of this engine, as It would have three different looks over its service life. Stroudley had before his death in 1889 called for an existing locomotive to be converted to traveling Inspection locomotive, so this engine likely traveled throughtout the Brighton system upon completion.
There are two versions of this model in OO. An experimental chassis which requires no gearbox, and the plain chassis. This plain chassis version hasnt been tried out for a specific gearbox yet, but a High Level LoLoader or +Slimliner (Or other similar compact gearbox) might do the trick. The chassis is made with sprung buffer pockets, though the front one will have to be shortened somewhat.
Model is meant to accomidate a Leading & Pony wheel of 2'-9" dia, with the Drivers being 4' dia. As for motor, a ganeric 1015 motor is the intended size (High Level & Mashima motors are available). Some likely sources for wheels include ScaleLink, Romford or Markits sets.
Handrails can be made from brass wire, taps for reaming out handrail knobs are also on the model.
