Product Description
The 100mm/45 Model 1930 was a mid-range anti-aircraft twin mount used by the Marine Nationale (French Navy) on a number of large warship classes. It replaced some of the unsuccessful 152mm dual-purpose mounts on the battleship Richelieu (her sister Jean Bart received the 100mm/55 model 1945 after WWII), and it augmented the AA battery on the battleship Lorraine (the only Bretagne class unit to be refitted and survive the war) and the heavy cruiser Algerie (possibly the best Treaty cruiser design of the 1930s). A follow-up development model, the Model 1933, was designed but did not see service use. It was scheduled to be fitted on to various classes of minesweepers and sloops, the original design of the cruiser De Grasse (eventually completed as an AA cruiser after the war), and the last two Richelieu class battleships, Clemenceau and Gascogne, both never completed.
