Product Description
For those ordering the 1/153 as hopper only, this might come in handy to help make the 12'wb Parkside chassis looks a bit more like the correct chassis for the 1/153. The sprue is of 6, enough for 3 wagons, and the cost in smooth fine detail plastic is about £7.50, £9.50 in smoothest (recommended). They will be fragile, so be careful separating them from each other - cut the sprue with a sharp scalpel against a firm supporting surface such as a cutting mat.
Having less on a sprue will not make it cheaper. Having more might not actually make it any more expensive, so let me know if you are seriously considering this approach. I expect the 3D printed chassis plus hopper will be the better option in most cases, and less effort.
UPDATED MODEL 2020-05-16 to fit better around the end of the leaf springs under the solebar behind the brake handle. Happy to offer for sale now,
To fit, clean the brake unit sprue in hot soapy water, and separate two brake units from the sprue for each wagon. Remove any bits of sprue that remain joined. From each Parkside chassis kit solebar unit, remove the tie bar from between the axleguards, and both v-hangers from the underside of the solebar. Gently raise the brake unit into position between the axleguards so that the plate at the back slips up behind the solebar but the top of the brake lever stays in front. Adjust position and level. Some tidying of the solebar unit (removal of flash and uneven areas) and localised filing of the brake unit (e.g. between the brake lever and the back plate) may be necessary to get a perfect fit before gluing and painting.
