Product Description
The tam o’shanter is a Scottish bonnet with a distinctive broad, flat top. While this style of hat has existed since the 16th century, its name derives from its association with Robert Burn’s 1790 poem of the same name, where the hero, Tam, wears a bonnet of this type. The bonnet was introduced to Scottish military regiments in 1915, replacing the Glengarry cap as the standard piece of trench headwear. It remains part of the uniform of many Scottish and Commonwealth regiments to this day.
