Product Description
This car is a model of the New York Central and Hudson River railroad’s 35’ standard boxcar built in 1899 by the American Car and Foundry, of which 5000 were built. This car is different than the earlier 1892-1896 cars in that they didn’t include the poling pocket, used uncoupling lever across entire end, replaced the wood bolster with metal ones, changed the end hand grab to 18”, only had one brakeman hand rail, replaced the grab iron ladders with wood ladders, used smaller end sills, employed a Cleveland-Chicago style roof, and the body had chamfered corners. The cars carried the original road numbers 60,600-65599 and had Fox Trucks with a 5’-2” wheel base.
