Lit 1/48 Scale Xwing Cockpit for Bandai "Moving Ed

This is a highly detailed replacement cockpit for Bandai's amazing 1/48 Scale "Moving Edition" model kit.  Using Shapeways clear detailed resin, you can light up the cockpit in extrodinary ways not possible with the cockpit panel that comes with the kit.  

The design is based off of the set model, not the miniature.  Some of the details are exadurated for better printing and painting.  

Process.  

#1. Mask out the two main display panels.  I used Micro Mask.  Be sure to plug/mask the LED socket!  
#2.  Paint a layer of silver to help bounce light inside the panel.
#3.  Paint a layer or two of black to block light from getting out.  Its best to check for light bleed before moving on.
#4.  Paint your colors over the black layer.
#5.  Once your done painting, scrape away the paint over buttons or objects you want it to expose the clear parts.
#6.  Seal the paint with a clear coat to protect the finish!
