thanks for the feedback. i'm sorry that the product printed in that material left you disappointed. these smaller versions were created at a customer's request who wanted to print them in bronze (pictured) at a size that would allow them to fit in an existing dice case. it seems that the white/black strong and flexible materials do not print at enough resolution in order to allow the higher numbered dice (such as the d20 king) to have the 20-sided faceted base like they are supposed to. i am going to remove the material options for materials which i don't think will print properly. the small numbers may be able to be inked for greater visibility, but on the d20 at this size they will still be very small and very close together (designing a d20 with a cylinder or conical type design always presents challenges, and making the design smaller exacerbates the situation). furthermore the SF plastics can be difficult to ink because they are porous (so you either need to seal them first with a sealant such as gusso, or use a gel pen or something similar). if you would like to discuss this further with me in a private message, please feel free. and remember shapeways has a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy. again, i apologize for your disappointment. the chess dice are one of my most popular items (in the larger size) and I want to keep my customers happy.
for future buyers: for lowered numbered dice, this smaller set might be fine in multiple materials, but for higher denomination dice I would suggest purchasing the larger-sized set (either here: http://shpws.me/O3na for hollow or here: http://shpws.me/O3lE for solid) or perhaps getting this in a fine detail (such as frosted ultra detail). I have only printed the larger dice myself, but I am going to make an educated guess and try to disable the materials i don't think will work on certain dice sizes. thanks.
