3D-printed clock

Product Description

I've been prototyping a 3d-printed clock, which I hope to offer for sale on Shapeways. This model is a smaller version of the models I've printed before, designed to fit within the Formlabs Form 1 print area (as well as Shapeways's detail materials).

For more info on the project, see my blog, or you can ask me on Twitter @Nucleon.

I want to get rid of the ball bearings, so the clock can run as printed, with only minimal assembly by the customers. That means I need to get the clearances for the bearings and between the gear teeth exactly right. Having a Formlabs machine at home would be very helpful for testing those tolerances quickly, as well as making other design changes, and generally pushing the boundaries of what is achievable with various printing technologies.
