Product Description
Coming Soon ---------- An Eaton & Gilbert 14 window day coach of 1845-50. This car is modeled after one used by the New Jersey Railroad and Transportation Company (later Pennsylvania RR). It was likely turned in for trade to the Jackson & Sharp Car Company and is shown in a photograph taken there circa 1871 (see photo above). It is basically the same design as the sample car sent to the Wurttemburg Railway (model R06wi) but for an additional window and some detail differences. The early swing motion trucks are of a wooden pattern with india rubber springs instead of the all iron ones sold to Wurttemburg. Requires 33" wheelsets with13.7mm (5.40") width axles (MTL standard length), and brass wire or Republic Locomotive Works platform railing set p/n 2009 for the railings.
Measures a scale 8'8"w by 44'2"l overall. Note this version contains parts for a separate window insert to make it easier to paint the windows a different color. This make the walls thin and susceptible to warping, so is recommended only if you can live with that possibility or firmly glue down the roof. See R05i for version with windows printed in place.
