Product Description
Guides for the three-ribbed buffers fitted to LCDR wagons. Heads/rams and coil springs, from the Alan Gibson or MJT ranges, are needed to complete; these buffers should have 12" heads.

In S scale, the same rams and springs should be used as for 4mm scale: the bores in the guides are the same. The builder will have to  approximate a 12" head from the 4mm-scale sizes available; the 15" head in 4mm scale is probably
the closest.

These buffer guides were developed from LCDR drawings and dimensions supplied by Mr. G. G. Lines, to whom I am most grateful for advice and guidance. The dimensions have been altered very slightly from prototype values to make the buffers printable at Shapeways: the diameter of the core of the buffer is increased by 0.5 scale inches, and the thickness of the ribs from 0.17mm (0.5 inches in the prototype) to 0.3mm. The wooden pad that sits between the buffer casting and the headstock is modelled at 2 scale inches in thickness. This is a typical value, but some wagons had 3-inch pads.
