Product Description
Audiophiles, here is a little known fact about Sugru. Moulding this wonder material into cones for your speakers will isolate sound vibrations, meaning you get nicer tunes and fewer complaints from the neighbours. Not just technically impressive, they look pretty darn good too. You could easily mould these clever little rubber feet by hand, but for the perfectionists among us, we’ve designed this 3D printed mould so you can produce precision cones yourself. GET STARTED All you need to create these rubber feet for your speakers is a 3D printed mould, 4 packs of Sugru, a paintbrush and some dish soap (washing up liquid). There are several options for getting your mits on your own 3D printed mould and you need never own a 3D printer. 1: Order the parts from a local independent 3D printer through the very awesome 3D Hubs. This is the fast budget option, we use this service all the time and love it. Just download this file and upload it to 3DHubs.com. You could also bring the file to a local Hack Space! 1: Order your mould directly from Shapeways. These guys print in an incredible range of materials and print resolutions. If the surface finish is important to you, this might be the best option. This does come at a cost though. STEP 1:
  • Paint a light coat of soapy water (that’s just a drop of dish soap in water) onto the inside of the mould and shake off the excess.
STEP 2:
  • Use just half a pack of Sugru per foot - roll it into a ball and press it into the mould and press into a cone shape.
STEP 3:
  • Press the Sugru slowly and firmly onto your speaker and twist gently from side to side.
  • Sugru should extrude through the hole in the top of the mould and out the sides. Remove this excess Sugru.
STEP 4:
  • Gently lift off the mould to reveal a perfectly formed Speaker foot. Repeat for all 4 feet per speaker.
  • Clean the excess Sugru with a dry tissue.
  • Leave to set for 24 hours.
That's it! Share the mould with your friends or think about other objects that you could put these rubber feet onto...
