To make a desk lamp:
- Order the base in the porcelain color of your choice
- Purchase a lamp kit, such as https://www.amazon.com/Angelo-Brothers-Make-Lamp-Kit/dp/B00002NADS
- You'll want a SMALL harp (about 6") for your lamp, such as https://www.amazon.com/Fitter-Polished-S70-708-Satco/dp/B00CZD05RS
- And of course a nice, relatively small lamp shade, such as https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUAMOAC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01
- I recommend you also put a nice felt bottom on the lamp, such as https://www.amazon.com/12-Piece-Kunin-Prestofelt-Peel-n-Stick-12-Inch/dp/B0018N5W2Y
The shaft down the center of the base is perfectly sized for a standard threaded lamp pipe, such as the ones indicated above. There's a hole in the back of the base that the electrical cord can come through. (1) Cut the pipe to length, (2) insert the pipe into the center column of the lamp base, (3) wire up the lamp, (4) attach the harp and lampshade, and (5) cut the felt to size and affix it to the bottom of the lamp. The small 6" harp doesn't accomdate full-sized lightbulbs so you'll need to purchase a smaller-size lightbulb (though of course still with a standard-size bulb base). Honestly, all of this will take you just a few minutes; it's really easy, and the results look great!
This lamp is available in both a right-handed and left-handed version, so that lamps will look nice on either side of bedside tables. As with the other Majest products here, profits go to the MBA Majest competition team fund.
