Product Description
LMS 6 wheel milk van body only, with solid sides, requires a Midland Railway style underframe eg. Ambis Engineering, Bill Bedford's system, or the Cleminson system from Brassmasters.
The builder will need to create a flat floor of 1mm plastic or brass, solebars and then supply running gear and buffers, these are easily obtained from Slaters, ABS Models and other suppliers. A specific underframe kit has been produced in etched brass by Ambis Engineering to suit these vans and MR 30ft 5ins carriages, available from http://www.ambisengineering.co.uk/. The roof will require light sanding on a very flat sheet of fine wet-n-dry paper to remove ridges. The entire body will require thorough cleaning to remove any support wax, eg by ultrasonic cleaner, before painting. Holes are provided for door handrails. This model is based on original LMS drawings and dimensions, and enables a scale model to be made far more easily than laminating etched brass to make the characteristic deep framing.
This item is listed only listed in Smooth Fine Detail Plastic (aka "FUD") which gives superb results. We have test printed in PA12 Grey and found it lacks detail in the definition of plank lines and ironwork, so discontinued this material. We do not offer this model in Versatile Plastic.
