This is an example of a custom design I can make with your own initials and a background symbol. Choose any existing symbol in the store or come up with your own and I can add your initials. Please use the Personalize button to tell me how you would like to customize your seal. If you are trying to design your own symbol precisely, please constrain the drawing to a 3/4" diameter circle, and all lines for raised wax should be a minimum of 0.040" wide.
Please be careful to avoid burns when using hot wax.

Please use this template to order a customized signet ring. I can add in initials to one of the other symbols you see here, or create a new symbol to your specifications. Please note that the ring and the impression that it makes are mirror images of each other - letters that look right in an impression come from a seal engraved backwards. If you are trying to design your own symbol precisely, please constrain the drawing to an 3/4" diameter circle, and all lines for raised wax should be a minimum of 0.040" wide. This is like drawing with a dull pencil.
Caution: remove signet rings from your hand before using to make an impression. The ring will get hot. Please be careful to avoid burns when using hot wax.

In some rare instances, Shapeways stainless steel rings have caused a reaction called "tea staining." This is a (not permanent) brown mark on the skin caused by a chemical reaction with the bronze binder. So far only one customer has reported this, and research shows that it depends on skin chemistry - some people always get it, most people never do. Some solutions for people concerned with this are coating the skin contact area with clear nail polish, gold plating, or getting the ring made in silver.

These have the same Shield Knot symbol as seen in the wax seal collection. One order contains a pair of cufflinks. The cuff links look like the impression that the seal makes, so using these as seals is not recommended. Off-round shafts prevent rotation and keep cuff links from slipping out by accident.

This is for making impressions on sealing wax in the form of the Shield Knot, an ancient symbol of protection according to Norse and Celtic traditions. I thought it an appropriate symbol to keep messages away from prying eyes.

This is for making impressions on sealing wax in the form of a Yin Yang, ancient Chinese symbol of balance and harmony. Because of the symmetry and balance of the positive and negative space, it both looks good on your hand AND makes a good impression on the wax.
Most shapes are hard to get both at the same time - the impression comes out as the "negative mirror image" of whatever you press into the wax, so letters are backwards, and anything raised in the seal is depressed in the wax.

This is for making impressions on sealing wax in the form of the Scales of Justice, traditionally a symbol of the legal profession. It's also the Zodiac sign for Libra (September 23 - October 22). I'm particularly proud of the details in this one. This takes advantage of the depth variation possible within the seal, so the pans on the scale literally pop out at you.

This is for making impressions on sealing wax in the form of the Chalice, a symbol of faith for Unitarian Universalists. This particular Chalice is the one adopted by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington (UUFH). UU a very open and accepting faith, encouraging each person to find their own spiritual path. There is no dogma - atheists and humanists sit side by side with monotheists and polytheists.
