About Asmblie™
Asmblie™ assumes the unexpected, and anticipates the importance of adaptability throughout the process of a creative assembly. Selecting from Asmblie’s library of connectors you can find your way to building in an open-ended space of possibility. Asmblie™ connects straight, curved, even found sticks to more of the same or to wire, rod, sheets or plates that are bent or flat materials of many types.

Designed for creatives and developed over the past two years for my own creative form-finding, Asmblie™ encourages building as nature does, resulting in assemblies alive with adaptability and the irregularities that result from cycles of change and growth.

Finishing  / Post-Processing
The scale of Asmblie™ connectors can be difficult to safely hold and drill by hand. To encourage safe drilling, Asmblie Tools will remain priced at Shapeways cost to manufacture.
As advised by Shapeways, all printed pilot holes must be drilled to fit the material that you choose. Holes can be reamed by hand using a pin vise or an electric screwdriver equipped with a small chuck. If using an electric drill, a slow speed wIll work best. (fast speeds = less control and may deform the part.) Wear gloves. Many inexpensive bits are not the diameter indicated. Some experimentation may be necessary to find the best hole size that mates well with your stick material. This is especially important when working with natural materials. Not so much with manufactured tube and rod.
For 3mm bamboo, start with a 2.95mm drill bit. For 1/8" wood dowels, test a .122" drill bit. (Slightly undersized for a snug fit or experiment to find the fit you like.)  Many 1/8" round sticks of wood are also not actually .125". However, Cindoco birch dowels are quite consistently 1/8".
To anchor connectors to "sticks", use the pinhole as a guide, drill into the stick and then insert a 1mm pin, map tack, toothpick, or a piece of wire.
