Bone Valley Scale Models

Designs by BoneValley
Model railroad freight cars and accessories. N Scale (1:160) and TT (1:120) and formerly also Z. For more info go to: http://dissolvingdollars.com/bvmodels/ Overall, the freight car models just require trucks/couplers, cleaning (use Bestine), some sanding, paint, and a brake wheel (N MT Miner Wheel 1063). Some parts of the models are delicate, due to the nature of the prototypes. In general, the most delicate parts are the stirrups. If they break or arrive broken, either glue them back on or use the opportunity to replace them with wire/etched metal, which is more durable and more true to prototype anyway. If you want your models to endure, make sure you clean the models well using Bestine, paint the models, and keep the models out of direct sunlight. Since the models are cured during printing using UV light, they need paint for UV light protection. Otherwise, additional UV will over cure the models making them brittle. NOTE: The older N scale models are now being rejected when they go to print since they are too delicate to meet Shapeways' new design policies. Hence, I have removed them from sale. That's the way it will be until either Shapeways changes its policies to something saner and consistent or another venue is found. Needless to say, I am not pleased with this policy change.
