Hello world! We are Alto Plano and this is our Manifesto, like a series of design mantras. These are our guiding principles and what we believe in, we want to share this with you and hear your opinion. Alto Plano is an open design space, so feel free to tell us what you think! 1. Design is creating new things but not just for the sake of doing something new. 2. Radical innovation is hard to find but there is always room for improvement in common places. 3. The goal of design is to question the status quo striving to make life more enjoyable. 4. Design is doing things that are beautiful, but not in a shallow way. True beauty can only be found on the serenity of simple things. 5. Good designers are humble, learn from your peers, acknowledge their good work and give honest criticism. 6. Empathy is the best practice for inspiration. Leave your desk and spend more time in the real world! 7. Design doesn’t have to be mass produced anymore, embrace new technology in a responsible way. 8. Design can be iterative when it is free from mass production. 9. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, you can always improve in the future. 10. But… don’t become lazy. There is no such thing as perfection, but trying to achieve it will improve your work. 11. Share ideas, the world is now more connected than ever, listen to opinions and collaborate in a global community. 12. Work on something because you believe in it, if you don’t love what you are doing you are doing something wrong. 13. Life is more than just work, live your life in balance. 14. Design is fun, making people happy is a function as important as any other. 15. Good design truly is as little design as possible.
