Some plants can be propagated using air layering.  The basic process is to wound a stem on a plant, pack the area with moist sphagnum moss or similar non-dirt rooting medium, and enclose the material using plastic or some other contraption.  Keep it moist and after a few days or weeks, depending on the plant, you'll be able to cut the stem below the newly rooted area and have a new plant for transplanting.  Some plants benefit from a rooting hormone powder or gel applied to the wounded area prior to packing with the rooting medium.

Offered are globes in 3 different sizes - small, medium, and large.  Small works with 1/4 inch diameter stems, medium with 3/8 inch diameter stems, and large with 1/2 inch stems.  Four holes are available for holding the 2 pieces of the cup together using small zip ties until the roots form in addition to a built in hinge.  Alternately the tabs around the holes can be held together using office binder clips for easier removal.  Small rings on the globes can be used as attachment points to hold the globe in place with string although you'll also want to zip tie something under the globe on the stem to keep the globe from sliding down the stem.  A large zip tie should work by itself or you could use it in combination with some cardboard wrapped around the stem.  Water the cup through the small funnel at the top once a week or before the rooting medium dries out completely.
