These are the herringbone pattern gears used in the Printrbot's extruder, designed by Brook Drumm (gears from Wade's Most Excellent Extruder). The gears that came in my Printrbot Plus kit were warped and misshapen. Laser-sintered nylon is a very precise way to make objects, why not my extruder gears? These are from the original STL files from the Printrbot.

See the picture with the black and the white gears:
The Black gear came with my Printrbot Plus kit. The STL file shows a diameter of 63.78 mm. The gear that was printed by a Printrbot in my kit measures 61.25 (averaged 8 measurements) The white gear was printed by Shapeways in Laser-sintered nylon and averages 63.25 mm

If you want a little Headhunter - Gothic - Cannibal - Biker vibe on your 3D Printer, check out the Skulltruder!

Behold and fear my Skulltruder!

This is a set of spur gears for the Printrbot ( and other) extruder. Derived from Brook Dunn's Printrbot's spur gears, which were derived from Wades Accessible and Herringbone gears

and Cleaned Skull by ssd

Notice that there is a cap for the bolt the skull on the larger gear - may need a wee bit of sanding around the perimeter for a proper fit. This should seat at the proper depth for stealthy concealment of your secret hardware. Upgrade your Printrbot with these gears from Shapeways in Laser-sintered nylon for greater precision and consistancy.

I ditched the small skull on the small gear. It never printed well with the hole through the forehead and the reduction in size. The NEW! small gear has some nice features, including cleaned up teeth, and a flat bearing surface for the set screw.

If you have a Generation III Prius (2010-present) with 15 inch wheels, you can pop off the UGLY wheel covers to release the alloy beasts underneath. Except - you'll have a hole in the center of the wheel that begs for a decorative cap. These are based on precise measurements of Toyota part #42603-52110.

This has the iconic power symbol embossed in the top of the wheel cover, just like the power button in your Prius. More info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_symbol

Also fits Yaris, Vios

Nylon is NOT UV stable. For maximum longevity and downright good looks, you will want to paint this object. Acrylic paints with a glossy topcoat are a proven method of painting objects printed using Selective Laser Sintering.

This thing was made with Tinkercad. Improved Ball Bearings with 9 ball bearings 6mm ID / 24mm OD Based on the first 8-ball Ball Bearings cartridge I designed, I packed another bearing in the races to better support the structure. Who knows how this gizmacci will print, but the design has bearings precisely dimensioned (5mm) to fit the races - see image. I don't know yet how round these balls will print, but they will likely need to be broken from races before they will rotate. This is not a precision bearing, this is proof of concept, but a high precision 3D printer might actually produce a usable low-speed, low-load bearing. +++ I have further improved this design by using a shape script for the spherical bearings, that creates smaller facets and then laboriously and precisely positioning the bearings in the race, so that there is absolutely minimal contact between bearings and races. +++

1/15/13 This STL is optimized for printing in ceramic, per the guidelines from the fine folks at Shapeways. There is a 10mm opening to the voids inside the body for "depowdering". If you wish to print this in another medium, contact me and I can provide you either a solid body version or a smaller opening to interior voids (2mm) Thanks for your interest - schlem

Note: the CAD file has changed since the photos were taken. The electron orbits now have a rounder aspect than the photo shows. I'm sure you will agree that this is an improvement to the design.

These are Z-Drive clamps that join the stepper motor shaft to the screw shaft. If yours are broken, these will get you back in business. Reinforced! Make sure that the fasteners you use to clamp these clear the other hardware on your Printrbot.
