The Hunt class Type II destroyer escort was used by the Royal Navy primarily on the British east coast and Mediterranean convoys. They were first built in 1940. The Fubuki class of the Imperial Japanese Navy is considered by many as the world's first modern destroyers. A powerful combination of speed and armament made them more than a match for any destroyer at the time. There were 24 ships of this class built between 1928-1933. The Sleipner class were made up of six small destroyers of Norwegian origin. During the invasion of Norway, one was destroyed, two were captured by the Germans, two were still being built and one escaped to Britain. Four of them ended up serving in the German Navy. This was the first full production U-Boat for the Germans. The prototype for the class was the Finnish submarine, Vesikko. The Type II U-Boat was a coastal submarine that saw a lot of use early in the war, but served more in a training role as newer, longer ranged U-boats became available. The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa (or Oscar) was one of the most common fighters for the Japanese Army. Like many Japanese fighters it was nimble but poorly armored. However, it was a succesful design that was responsible for shooting down more Allied aircraft than any other Japanese fighter.
