Hi all! I’m Kegan. The one making sure your packages reach you safe and sound, direct from NYC. Some of you I know in person, some on Twitter, and for everyone else – feel free to reach out and say hi.
A little about me. Lets see. 3D printing lover, carnivorous plant enthusiast, avid scuba driver, scotch drinker, moderately OCD, and generally obsessed with squares, Venn diagrams, flow charts, and straight lines.
If the mood strikes you to send one of the lovely ladies behind Shapeways a gift (I’m just saying) geometric objects of any kinds are always welcome, and guaranteed adored. @Wimpie999 I (and my cat) are in love with your interlocking cubes. Pretty much the best thing ever.
But enough with the silliness. As the Team Lead for US distribution, I’ll be helping to build out our brand new warehouse space in NYC, improving our packaging to reduce breakages, expanding shipping options, and working with supply chain to make sure your products reach you when they’re supposed to.
I can’t say this is going to happen overnight, but I can say I will work to continually improve our processes, never settle for 99%, and get you your products fast, on time, and in one piece. After all, seeing your 3D print for the first time is like getting the best birthday present ever, and we’re not in the business of disappointing.
Now, since I am human, know that mistakes will be made. We’re growing fast, and there are aches and pains that come with that. I’m asking you, the community, to understand but not accept this, and continually help me to improve our day to day operations. Have a suggestion? @ or DM me on twitter.
Thanks for letting me be part of such an awesome community, and I can’t wait to see what we build together.
Welcome 🙂
Packages arriving safe & sound…fast too. Thanks for the dedication Kegan.
Hi Kegan, and welcome.
Nice to see you like interlocked shapes (if one day your fascination goes from interlocked cubes to interlocked dodecahedra, please, let me know 🙂 ).
As you are working in the delivery process from NYC, I was wondering if you could give us some clarifications about the “shipped dc ny” order status we can sometimes see in the order overview Excel file… More details here: http://www.shapeways.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=6167&start=0&
Regards,
Magic
Hey Magic,
I like it, will do! In regards to the shipping statuses, and confusion being caused. “Shipped DC NY” means the part has shipped from the Netherlands to our DC in NYC. We then ship it out from there to you. In the coming months, as we build out our production/distribution in the US, this status will probably disappear since parts will ship direct. Let me know if that makes sense!
Cheers
Kegan
Yes, that makes sense. Virtox told there is also a “shipped dc eindhoven” status, I suppose this is the opposite.
So one bug to fix is that we are not supposed to receive a notification e-mail in case of an “internal” shipping, I guess.
Thanks for the clarification.
